PetRoot is a pet food scanner app for iPhone. Scan dog and cat food, treats and toppers to see how they score. PetFit checks them against your pet’s allergies and health conditions.

Scan a barcode, search by name, or browse a growing catalog of more than 5,000 scored dog and cat foods, treats, and toppers. Every PetRoot Score is calculated from product evidence, not generated by AI, and brands can’t buy, alter, or influence it.
See what goes into a PetRoot scoreNot just the ones pictured on the front.
Foods, treats, and toppers each face the standards for what they’re meant to do.

How PetFit worksThe PetRoot Score measures the product itself. PetFit is separate: it checks the product against your pet’s allergies, sensitivities, and medical conditions and flags potential conflicts.
PetFit also considers preferences you select and surfaces breed- or ancestry-related tendencies that may be worth discussing with your veterinarian.
Save the products a pet currently uses to their profile. If an FDA recall affects one of them, PetRoot can send you a push notification.

Ralph is bored with his current treats. What should we try next?
Try Meadowtail Salmon & Pumpkin Bites. They received a PetRoot Score of 83, with positive marks for complementary protein and amino acid structure, as well as minimally processed starch ingredients.
They’re also chicken-free, so they avoid the allergy trigger saved in Ralph’s profile. Want me to show you a few more options?
